Gentlemen,

With reference to your letter of the 28th of April regarding the Yaumati Ferry Service, I am directed to state that the words "i.e. excluding loss in respect of future profits" are those used by the Secretary of State for the Colonies in referring to your clients' claim for compensation.

I am to add that it is not the intention of this Goverment to consider any claim based on loss of future profits, and to suggest that this may be made clear to Messrs. Lowe, Bingham and Matthewe.
